Wendy Buchholz OTR/L, CLT-LANA
Wendy Buchholz, OTR/L, CLT-LANA, is an occupational therapist at Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center. She’s a Creighton University graduate.
Buchholz is a certified lymphedema therapist who specializes in working with cancer rehabilitation patients. She’s certified by the Lymphology Association of North America. She’s also trained in breast cancer rehabilitation and myofascial release treatment.
Like so many people, cancer has touched Buchholz’s life in a personal way.
“My husband underwent treatment for cancer in his late 20s just as I was beginning my occupational therapy classes at Creighton,” she said. “The experience gave me a new understanding of what cancer treatment and long-term side effects can mean for both the patient and the family.”
Buchholz was initially drawn to veterinary medicine, but she turned her attention to therapy after working in a doctor’s office. She tagged along with a friend to an occupational therapy open house at Creighton and felt she could flourish in the field. She loves taking a hands-on approach with patients and arming them with skills and tools to live comfortably.
The youngest of nine children, Buchholz grew up in a farming family in northern Iowa. She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, gardening and trying new recipes. When they can, she and her husband like to take on historic home restoration projects.
