University of Nebraska Medical Center
Why did you decide to become a physician?
I have wanted to be a doctor since I was 6. My grandfather had been hospitalized at Clarkson and I went to visit him during the last days of his life. I was amazed by what was going on and was hooked.
What are your clinical areas of interest?
I like the variety of the things that I see on a daily basis. The most fascinating thing for me however is the family unit and how important family is in a person's health.
What is your philosophy of patient care?
My mission is to help people understand their health, body and/or illness. I think people do better when they understand the link between nutrition, exercise, mental health and what happens to them throughout their life.
How do you spend your free time? (family, hobbies, interests, volunteer activities, etc.)
I like to spend my time with my family, especially my grandchildren. I also garden, paint and foster rescue dogs.
Provide an interesting anecdote about you.
I was a nurse before I went back to medical school.
