Physician Q & A
Why did you decide to become a physician?
Growing up in rural Nebraska, the three family physicians providing care to our area were inspirations for me to become not only a physician, but a family physician.
What are your clinical areas of interest?
Families and their well being are my areas of interest. Early prenatal diagnosis and coordination of care, newborns and children, wellness or treatment of the whole family. No other medical subspecialty is better qualified to provide this care other than family physicians.
What is your philosophy of patient care?
Medicine and its complexities are overwhelming. My job is to provide for my patients, the consumers, up-to-date care and an ability to help them find the necessary specialists and diagnostics needed. This includes an understanding on costs of care and the impact they have on the consumers. Medicine is a business but with impact way beyond any other business out there.
How do you spend your free time? (family, hobbies, interests, volunteer activities, etc.)
What free time there is, is spent volunteering at the YMCA and in teaching wellness by example, serving my community school district and local church, biking, swimming and running, triathlon competitions and most importantly, being involved with my kids and helping them to grow into productive citizens.
Provide an interesting anecdote about you.
I love to sing and perform, and annually perform with the local medical society group singing and dancing on stage.
