Physician Q & A

Why did you decide to become a physician?

It does "date" me but I've always wanted to be a doctor after watching Dr. Kildare on TV. He was a caring and kind individual who bonded with his patients. I was hooked after that and pursued the sciences in school in preparation for medical school.

What are your clinical areas of interest?

I gave up obstetrics after 25 years and now devote my time to my gynecology patients. In 2007, I became interested in aesthetic lasers and their specific applications to improve the skin's "age." I received training at the Aesthetic Academy in Tempe, Arizona and now devote the "other half" of my practice to administering cosmetic laser procedures such as skin tightening, resurfacing fine lines and wrinkles, photo rejuvenation, ablation of spider veins and laser hair reduction.

What is your philosophy of patient care?

Patient care should be a cooperative venture. I don't like to preach but rather relay current guidelines for patient care. A patient should be invested in their own health care with a healthy lifestyle encompassing exercise, diet, mind-relaxing habits and hobbies.

How do you spend your free time? (family, hobbies, interests, volunteer activities, etc.)

Since my family is all grown and absorbed in their own lives, I now have a golden retriever to "mother!" We walk on a daily basis and have a ball of fun. Reading is my relaxation as well as cooking. My husband, Peter, of 35 years,is my best friend and travel mate.
