Why did you decide to become a physician?

During a two-year mission in Guatemala, I associated with many people who were suffering from inadequate medical care. I left Guatemala with the desire to become a physician to help satisfy those kinds of needs.

What are your clinical areas of interest?

I am a general orthopedic surgeon with broad experience in many surgical procedures. My practice emphasizes the shoulder, but I also enjoy a variety of sports medicine, adult reconstruction of hips and knees, trauma/fractures, etc.

What is your philosophy of patient care?

My patients deserve the best care possible. I spend whatever time is necessary to gain trust, explain options, resolve concerns, instill optimism and engage my patients in their decisions about their own care. If a condition requires surgery, I am patient and a perfectionist in the operating room.

How do you spend your free time? (family, hobbies, interests, volunteer activities, etc.)

I love spending time with my wife and children. I am active in my church and community. I love travel, the outdoors, music and sports.

I was awarded the Nebraska Jaycees Outstanding Young Nebraskan in 2008.
