Why did you decide to become a physician?

I thought it would be interesting and challenging and I would have lots of opportunities to help people.

What are your clinical areas of interest?

I have a full primary care practice from newborns to nursing homes. I enjoy everything from wellness counseling to chronic disease management.

What is your philosophy of patient care?

I like to get to know my patients and their perception of their illness and general health. Then I work with them to attain their goals and help to educate them in the aspects of their care that might not be readily apparent to them.

How do you spend your free time? (family, hobbies, interests, volunteer activities, etc.)

I like to spend time with my wife and two children. I also enjoy hunting, fishing, swimming, biking and other outdoor activities.

Provide an interesting anecdote about you.

I was raised in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area and have lived all across the country in many different cities. I moved back to southwest Iowa about nine years ago.
