Why did you decide to become a physician?

I knew I wanted to become a surgeon at an early age since my dad was a general surgeon. Orthopedic surgery allows me to make huge improvements in people’s quality of life.

What are your clinical areas of interest?

I specialize in knee and hip replacement – including the direct anteur approach for hip replacement that does not cut through muscle.

What is your philosophy of patient care?

Patients should be educated and feel comfortable when making decisions about their health care. It’s important to explain in “plain English” what options patients have to treat a particular problem, and then I help them choose the best option.

How do you spend your free time? (family, hobbies, interests, volunteer activities, etc.)

I spend my free time with my three kids and my wife. I enjoy playing tennis and sand volleyball. I also help my wife run Primrose School of Legacy Child Care Center.

Provide an interesting anecdote about you.

I grew up in a small town (pop. 10,000) in southwestern PA. I’m a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and a Duke basketball fan.
