Why did you decide to become a physician?
I enjoy challenges and problem solving, so being a physician gives me a way to help patients solve health problems. My strengths in school were in biology and anatomy. I also like building and fixing things.
What are your clinical areas of interest?
My clinical areas of interest are in artificial joints, complicated knee reconstruction and repairing fractures. I specialize in many aspects of orthopedic surgery including artificial joints, arthroscopy, sports medicine, fractures, foot and ankle surgery, knee and shoulder reconstruction.
What is your philosophy of patient care?
My philosophy of patient care is to be efficient and organized while working with my patients and most of all to respect them. I also think that surgeons need to be good with their heads and their hands.
How do you spend your free time? (family, hobbies, interests, volunteer activities, etc.)
I enjoy exercise (mostly running). I also enjoy working in the orchard and garden, doing yard work and reading.
Provide an interesting anecdote about you.
I have been a team physician for multiple high schools in Minnesota, Chicago and Omaha.
