Why did you decide to become a physician?

My father was a physician in solo practice and he acted as a role model in my decision to become a physician. I have always been comfortable with children and this lead me to be a pediatrician. During my residency, I enjoyed working in the NICU and eventually decided to become a neonatologist.

What are your clinical areas of interest?

What is your philosophy of patient care?

I treat my patients and their families with respect. I value a team approach in caring for patients in the NICU. I inform parents daily of their baby’s progress. In essence, I try to care for my patients and their families in a way that I would expect to be treated if my baby was in the NICU.

How do you spend your free time? (family, hobbies, interests, volunteer activities, etc.)

My hobbies include gardening, cooking, listening to music, and reading American history.

Provide an interesting anecdote about you.

My partners and I were instrumental in bringing the first neonatal nurse practitioner program to the state of Nebraska.
