CSCS - Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
Bachelors of Science in Education, University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Lincoln, Neb.
Masters of Physical Therapy, University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Neb.
What made you choose a medical career?
Since I was a small child, I have always wanted to help people. In high school I joined the boy scouts medical explorer's post. We met monthly with a speaker from a different area of medicine each time. I found the variety in physical therapy to be very interesting.
What are your clinical areas of interest?
I am interested in general orthopedics, geriatrics including gait and balance and women's health. I enjoy working with pre-pregnancy and post-pregnancy related pain and weakness. I have recently started a new path down the women's health road to learn more about pelvic pain and incontinence issues.
What is your philosophy of patient care?
I believe in tailoring a program to a patient's individual needs. I think it is important to both progress a patient at their own pace and also educate the patient in what they can do to help themselves get better and achieve their goals.
How do you spend your free time? (family, hobbies, interests, volunteer activities, etc.)
Volunteering at church, car pooling, school activities, card club, piano, crafts, reading, hiking and kayaking.
Provide an interesting anecdote about you.
I enjoy learning new things and tackling home improvement projects with my husband. No idea is too big! Okay, this may be my motto and not my husbands!!
