Why did you decide to become a physician?
I have always known I wanted to do something that would directly impact people. When I was in college I knew I either wanted to be a teacher or a doctor. As I proceeded through my education the sciences came very easy to me. The more exposure I got to the medical field the more obvious it became that being a physician would be a great fit for me.
What are your clinical areas of interest?
I enjoy all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology. The variety of things we do on a daily basis keeps the work very interesting. I especially like to treat women's incontinence and pelvic relaxation.
What is your philosophy of patient care?
I think one of the most important aspects of patient care is listening to the patient. I have found asking open-ended questions and giving the patient plenty of opportunity to discuss their concerns results in patient satisfaction.
How do you spend your free time? (family, hobbies, interests, volunteer activities, etc.)
My free time is spent with my family. My husband and our four children are what bring me the most pleasure. I also enjoy reading, boating, water skiing and most anything outdoors.
