Bachelor of Science Occupational Therapy - College of St. Mary, Omaha, NE
What made you choose a medical career?
I choose to become an occupational therapist because I love helping people and keeping people independent. Through the aging process and injuries, you realize how often you take for granted the so-called easy things in life. I love helping patients realize that even though they may now have limitations, that they can work through them. I love problem solving to help patients reach their maximum potential.
What are your clinical areas of interest?
My passion is inpatient occupational therapy as the focus is getting patients to return to their prior level of functioning. I love working with all age ranges and diagnosis as I love a challenge. I also have interests in adaptive equipment and training.
How do you spend your free time? (family, hobbies, interests, volunteer activities, etc.)
I love to be with my family and friends playing games, hanging out, dancing or whatever. I enjoy any type of physical activity and working out especially in the warm outdoors.
Provide an interesting anecdote about you.
My husband and I love to travel. Last November we went to the Virgin Islands where we snorkeled and saw sharks 5 feet away from us. It was a surreal experience and we had a blast.
